TV Talk: Grey's Anatomy (100th Episode)

Saturday night I went to a fabulous "Margarita's in May" soiree hosted by my friend and fundraising chair, Kelly. It was a silent auction item at our Mardi Gras fundraiser in Feb for mini #1's school, so naturally, I had to buy in. What a great night! Kelly is quite the hostess and everything was so lovely and fun and done to the n'th degree.

Upon returning home from the party, however, I found my husband passed out in bed and SNORING. Ugh. So that left me twittering on my blackberry in bed, under the covers with Lisagh & Erin and a great Grey's discussion ensued while my husband just snored, snored, SNORED away next to me. This is what led me to my TV Talk today as I've simply GOT to talk in an open forum about this with ya'll.

So tell me what you think about last week's episode and this past season overall? Here are my thoughts:

  • FINALLY, the writing was equal to that of seasons 1 and 2. Shonda Rhimes definitely got her groove back and we had some amazing episodes this season
  • Last week had me sobbing. No, not sobbing, weeping. Loudly. (and you know you were too). It was nothing short of amazing.
  • 2nd bullet point aside, so help me GOD if they do not marry Derek & Meredith already! Let's just at least see the two of them on an island, getting married quietly as they wanted. mmmkay?
  • I have loved this season of Derek & Meredith. She has been so much stronger and independent (cue Kelly Clarkstons, "Miss Independence") and they have had a true, equal, give and take relationship that they are both equally a part of. I LOVE it.
  • As Lisagh pointed out, I have really missed George's funny lines. Why have they let him sit on the side-lines this entire season? Do you think he's coming back next season? And if he does, what kind of storyline are they going to give him?
  • Izzy: This is a big one. The whole envisioning Denny thing was sooo incredibly stupid. But yes, I get it now. Katherine Heigel has been very open in the past about her dislike for her writers and storyline and I think this Caner storyline has been a way for them to keep her in check. Will she die or won't she? What do ya'll think?
  • I have to say, I also LOVE McSteamy & Lexie. They are so good together! He makes my heart skip a beat every now and again, and I love that she's making him good. She is a good girl, that Lexie, and has put up w/ a lot of crap. From Christina, from Meredith, from George, and even from McSteamy. I really hope he stays loyal to her & stays a good guy. But? I'm doubtful, especially now that our resident bad boy, Alex, has officially grown up & become a man.

So, what do you think?

02 July, 2008

Yes, I realize I have turned into one of *those* bloggers. And let's not pretend we don't all know what I'm talking about either. And while I had every intention of doing a crafty post today (keep hope alive, people. It could still happen at some point later today), I have lots of t-shirt orders to create and fulfill so I'm too busy to blog today. As an aside, thank you so much to everyone who has been buying up my preppy tees from The Monogram Marketplace! I will be adding more products in addition to tee's very soon so I'll be sure to let you know.

So since I'm busy with photoshop today, I wanted to at least leave ya'll with something humorous. All I can say is if you have not caught the new game show, Wipeout, you are really missing out! The hosts and commentating totally make this show (two ex Talk Soup Hosts are the commentators and it's hilarious!)!

Without further Adieu, I present.. Best. Gameshow. EVER.

P.S. Watch the whole clip it is totally worth it!

TV Talk: Real Housewives of New York (otherwise referred to as RHNY)

Ya'll know I love my tv time, and the never ending writers strike really put a cramp in my weekly tv watching schedule. Why we're still being punished for that stupid strike and only have bits and pieces of certain shows is beyond me. However, I am looking forward to finally seeing some Grey's Anatomy this week (does anyone know what happened to Private Practice???). Anyhoo, the last couple months I managed to hook myself on the Real Housewives of New York. Already having been a huge fan of Real Housewives of Orange County, I needed to check these *ladies* out (I use that term very loosely because it really only applies to LuAnn and Jill at best). They aren't near as likable as the Orange County housewives, but interesting nonetheless.

Did any of you guys see the season Q&A wrap up last night? Wow. That was something! I don't know which part I loved better... The part where Alex (and Simon!!) tried to convince everyone (without success might I add) that they are in fact not the social climbers they portray themselves to be. Or the part where Ramona tried explaining what "class" was. Talk about someone who has NO CLASS whatsoever. That woman would be eaten alive in the South and last all of an hour. But back to Alex and Simon. I can only assume based on the shambles of a house and lack of decor, the horrible behavior of her children, their constant mention of [desperately] trying to move up the social ladder, etc. that these two are living so far beyond their means that it's sad. The really sad part is that if Alex would just be herself-her real self-she would probably be likable.

Ramona, Ramona, Ramona. Someone please tell me this woman won't be back for season 2. I feel so sorry for her daughter. Yes, we all remember being embarrassed by our mothers at that age, but this is a smart girl. And she is 100% right in telling her mom that she doesn't dress appropriately. I can't even get into how inappropriate Ramona's behavior was throughout the entire season, and that she lacks in some serious class and decorum. Too bad because her husband and daughter seem very nice and normal.

LuAnn & Jill I actually like. I was really turned off by Jill the first few episodes, but I actually like her now. LuAnn does seem a little high and mighty at times and I agree with her housekeeper Rosie that she should listen to her children's pleas to stay home more. I mean, would it really kill her to stay home for taco night once in a while?

Last but not least is Bethany. Why she is considered a "housewife" is something I have yet to understand. She isn't married and spent the entire season complaining about the fact that she wasn't married and that her biological clock was ticking. Her boyfriend seems very nice and quiet, although from what I've read he wasn't supposed to be a big regular on the show. Poor guy, now he's lost his job over it, although I'm assuming he now has more time to spend with Bethanny.

Anyway, that's my two cents on the group. I am intrigued by this group but I have to say I spend more time laughing at them than anything else. Oh! One more thing...I thought someone wasn't going to be returning for season 2 but I didn't hear that mentioned last night. Does anyone know anything about that?

Okay, I'm off for the day. Mini #2 and I have a busy morning and a lunch date with friends. Then we've got to come home for the Air Conditioning service company to come out this afternoon to look at our second system for the upstairs which is acting up. Make sure you guys tune in to MM as I'll be doing a giveaway from one of my favorite online shops either tomorrow or Friday. Have a great day!

That's the Best They Could Do?

I have to talk Grey's. Anyone else? This writers strike has put a serious damper on my TV time and I'm really put off by it. Work it out already, people! So last night was the last original episode they taped. What can I say but YAWN. SO DAMN BORING. That was the best they could come up with?

And honestly, Meredeth? Enough already! She needs a time-out and soap in her mouth. My 4 & 5 year olds don't even whine that much, nor are they even that insecure. I like to think she is a reasonably intelligent person seeing that she's a surgeon and all, so why doesn't she realize she needs some MAJOR psychotherapy? Let's see here.... daddy issues, commitment issues, intimacy issues, trust issues. Shall I go on? She needs to pick up the phone and call Dr. Phil. Rumor has it he's looking to drum up some new clients.

I'm also not liking Christina and Izzy's new bitter relationship. Haan is boring me to death too, although I am glad they are making she and Callie friends. They'll be a good fit. As for Bailey, my favorite character on the entire show, they have really taken her character in a depressing and boring direction. I don't know why they felt the need to bring her bitter husband into this storyline but they need to steer her in a different direction and bring back her personality.

You know, I heard that Joshua Jackson (a moment of silence for Pacey from Dawson's Creek, please) was joining the cast and I for one sure as heck hope so. They need some interesting new characters because it's oftly bland since Burke and Addison left the show. All I can say is I sure hope this writers strike vacation is giving the Grey's writers a renewed sense of creativity and wit because I? Am not impressed.

TV Talk

Well you guys all know how much I love the tube, and this writers strike better end soon or I will be pretty unhappy if I already have to subject myself to re-runs this early in the year. Anyhoo, that aside, I absolutely have to talk about some of my favorite shows and see what you guys are watching too.

Desperate Housewives I didn't watch this show one single time last season bC it really got on my nerves, but I've come back due to Brie's faux pregnancy. How funny was that circumcision storyline? HA! It looks like Susan might take a nasty fall this week so I'm hoping she doesn't lose the baby. I would love to see she and Mike have a baby.

Brothers & Sisters I just got into this a few weeks ago and it's great. I really hope Calista Flockhart's character gets pregnant again and her sister gets her kids back. I'd also love to see a love interest for Sally Field (who totally rocks, btw)!

Dancing With The Stars Can someone PLEASE tell me who the heck is voting for Marie. I am so put off that I have to watch that tart and her obnoxious toothy grin on that dance floor for yet another week, I can't even begin to tell you. She and her brother have really pimped themselves out for any news outlet that will listen to them and I'm so over it already! I mean, who goes on Oprah the day after their father dies? And now, today, she's made this public statement that her 16 year old son has entered rehab and she would like the public to respect their privacy. Um, Hello! You're not exactly Britney Spears, Marie, with the paparazzi following your every move! No one would have ever known your son was in rehab if you didn't feel the need to put yourself in the spotlight to announce it. And NOW, you know what that means? Yep, we're not only going to be forced to watch Donny and his "expert" DWTS opinion on ET, but also see him *cry* and talk about how proud he is of his nephew and this whole rehab thing. UGH.

P.S. This season has been FULL or surprises, has it not? I was so sure Jennie was going home last night and not Cameron! After all, you know how devout those soap fans are!

P.S.S. Sabrina was ROBBED and I blame MARIE and all those stupid Osmonds!

How I Met Your Mother I still love this show but still find it a little odd that A) they are making Lilly look somewhat Asian with that hideous haircut, and B) why is single Ted living with a now married Marshall & Lilly????

Dr. 90210 Yep, I'm still watching! Anyone else? I just can't seem to get enough of these Doc's, and while nothing would make me happier than to see Dr. Matlock leave the show, I am DYING for the Dr.'s Diamond to have a baby!

Notes from the Underbelly I can't WAIT for this to start up again! Rumor has it they saved the show as a mid-season filler. I'm so excited it's coming back next week!

Private Practice What's the verdict? Are you loving this spin off or not. It's really growing on me, although I am already tired of Pete's inability to commit and Amy Brennaman's character. I take that back. It's actually Amy Brenaman that I can't stand. I don't think she was a good fit for this show, although I am really dying for she and the pediatrician to get together. He is so cute! Anyway, as they said on the show, it was babypalooza last night on the show. I could have done without that, but whatever. I sure hope between last nights show and next week's, Addison will get smart and call that cute police officer from last night!

Dirty, Sexy Money I don't know how you guys feel, but I tried and couldn't get into it. Every single character on this show annoyed me.

Project Runway A. mentioned it was back on yesterday and I am SO EXCITED! It's one of my favorite shows, and I love all the creativity (and cattiness-MEOW!) this show has to offer. I will say, this season there appears to be quite a few primadonna's who are really full of themselves and going to cause quite a stir. So far I love the girl from Ralph Lauren and the guy who did the black and white halter dress w/ blue sash last night.

Grey's Anatomy Of course, I still adore this show. I heard that Joshua Jackson (Pacey from Dawson's Creek) was joining the cast and I'm thrilled! I loved him! He'll be a great addition I think. I do have to say, I am really over Meredith's inability to commit. For crying out loud, get your ass in therapy and work out your abandonment issues already! And does anyone know if Callie was fired fired or just fired from being chief resident? That was a little confusing last week. I'm not loving her character though since Addison left. I really liked their little friendship.

Big Shots HUGE fan of this show!! How cute is Dylan McDermott?!?!?!

Okay, so I guess this is pretty much it for my evening lineup. Some night's I catch Martha at 8 on Fine Living if I've missed the previous day's show, and sometimes I flip over to House Hunters on HGTV at 10pm also. I have no idea why. The houses are always ugly, the people typically make stupid choices, and it's always a re-run for some odd reason (seriously, can't you people tape any new episodes?), but what can I say? I'm hooked.
