I know, it's unreal it's been that long. I don't think any of us will ever forget where we were or what we were doing 7 years ago today. I was 5 months pregnant and I just remember how scared I was to bring a baby into the world like this.

I think our goal around here (Emmanuel & Milligan) is to make sure it's not mentioned. Goal was accomplished when someone asked at the beginning of class "What's today's date?"

I think this is our generation's version of the moon landing, but a sad rite instead.

I was finishing law school and knew my husband would have to go as part of the 101st. He was over there most of 2003, when the first wave went. Many of our friends have been back several times since.

Since that time we've learned how to prioritize the things that matter (family) and also learned how to be happy regardless of what each day brings (something that takes practice).
