Buh Bye Blogroll

You might have noticed that I deleted my blogroll. But before you start telling me how rude that is, please let me explain. Last week I did my first Blog Spotlight and I got some great responses. Everyone really seemed to enjoy my new blog find and I was happy to open the door to Ashley’s Closet (and sarcasm) to the rest of you. So anyway, my blogroll was in dire need of being updated and truly, it is just too much for me to keep up with. This summer is proving to be a very busy summer for me with lots going on and as much as I really wish I could continuously update my blogroll, I really can’t. Let’s face it. I’m lucky to have on 2 matching flip flops these days, let alone update my blogroll on a weekly basis.

Aside from the constant updating of the blogroll, I also realized that we pretty much all have the exact same blogroll anyway. Seriously. If you don’t believe me then go check out 5 blogrolls of self confessed preps (and when you return after checking them out I’ll be happy to tell you “I told you so” because being the youngest of 3 girls means I can sorta be a brat like that sometimes). Don't get me wrong. This is great that we all support eachothers blogs and link up to eachother, but I thought it might be fun to do something a little different.

I really and truly appreciate all of my readers and all the other bloggers who include me on their daily reads and blogrolls and I will continue to link to you in one way or another, Girl Scouts promise! And I know you all see me out there reading and commenting so I hope you know I am certainly reciprocating. So in lieu of the blogroll which we’ve all memorized by now, I decided it would be much more fun to continue with the Blog Spotlight.

The Blog Spotlight will shine the light on a new, fun, and fresh blog that I will search out. It might be a blog you already visit on a daily basis that happens to be throwing out some great posts, or it may be a totally new *undiscovered* blog by our little blog community of preppy pink and green bloggers. Now don’t worry. I won’t be spotlighting any Black Sabbath blogs (or, dare I say it, anti-celebrity gossip or anti-Martha blogs) or anything, but I think this will be a fun way to find and share some other great bloggers that are somewhere out there, just waiting to entertain us.

So what do you think? Yeah or Neigh?

Sounds like a great idea to me! Thanks for sending me to Ashley's Closet-- hilarious. I think it makes sense to take off the blogroll-- I'm not mad :).

You go, Girl. Whateva floats your boat. It IS your blog afterall and that means you are queen of your own universe. Better there than nowhere, right?

However, I'm a-keepin' my blogroll or I will never be able to find anyone's blogs! :) You are obviously much more organized than I am.

I am all about making my life as easy as it can be with minimal stress....so my vote is to go for the blogroll.

I visited Ashley's blog and had a great laugh!

Speaking of blogs, what has happened to Preppy Guy? He has not posted on his blog since Mar. 17. Out of habit, I click on there every day.

Yeah!!! Sounds like fun to me!

A few thoughts:

1. Would I be in the spotlight each week?

2. Can I take credit for you taking the blogroll down?

3. Does this mean I have to take the "Martha's a b*tch" thing off of my list of things people should know about me?

Hope your leg is better.
Your Friend,
Ashley

Phew, I thought you were going to say you were closing shop or something...Do whatever you want, I'm just happy you still want to blog! I noticed how similar everyones blog rolls were too. I have a similar list on my computer of the blogs I read too.

Yeah. I see your point. I like the idea of a blog spotlight.

Tammy B; I have NO idea what happened to Preppy Guy. I *think* I remember that last summer when he started his blog he said he was in-between jobs so he had lots of time to blog but then started a new job in the fall. I guess he's just been really busy. I think it's the same thing for The EMG as well. I always click on those out of habit too so I know what you mean!

Ashley:

1)probably not unless you'd like to discuss a little under-the-table payment plan

2)sure

3)most definitely!

Thanks for your thoughtful concern about my leg.

A definite YAY! Only if you spotlight me, that is!

Kidding. Sort of. Not really.

Sounds like an excellent plan to me! I too am horrible about updating my blogroll...I remember to update in bloglines, but never my own site.

NOOOOO! I relied on your blogroll to take to fantastic blogs! I didn't even mind that you de-linked from me some time ago (at least I think that was you, can't really remember). Guess I will have to do my own detective work now...

anyways, still enjoy reading your posts and will look forward to the blog spotlight.

Also, the new Southern Living arrived today, and I am on fire to try the Peach Lemonade recipe!

Monogram Momma said...

Hey now, Broady that was most definitely NOT me! I would own up to it but I'm soooooo incredibly bad about my blogroll that I had blogs on there that didn't even exist anymore!

I saw that Peach Lemonade too and I thought it would be AWESOME to do some frozen popcicles with! Don't 'ya think?

sounds like a fun idea. Thanks for the post about the scrapbook letters off the computer. Didn't even think about it. If you think of those online sites, please drop me a line.

I'm with you MM - I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing recently. Damn thing gets out of hand!

Agreeing with the peach lemonade popsicles. I was zooming through Target a couple months back, the cute garden stuff for kids had just come out when I passed an endcap with the popsicle molds. Could not resist, bought some, and immediately started making frozen EVERYTHING!!! HUGE hit with the kids. Of course I've always been one to make drink ice cubes so as not to water down drinks during the dog days of Summer!! Try putting fresh mint leaves and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice in your regular water ice cubes, and it makes a great addition to iced tea. Oh, and Williams Sonoma had those wonderful trays last summer with a slot to place a slice of your favorite citrus (lemon or lime or orange)on your ice cubes. So pretty on an outdoor table in a big clear glass pitcher of icy cold water, not to mention in some lemonade...ah! I love summer and clever things!!

I am relatively new to blogging. Keeping the blogroll up seems to be pretty difficult. I like the idea of spotlighting a blog of interest though ;)

I had a dinner party tonight and I made the Peach Lemonade-- with a healthy dose of citroen vodka to make it "adult friendly." It was awesome-- and perfect for drinks outside before dinner... while I made a GRILLED PIZZA appetizer. I bought the Publix dough (it was a little tough to knead out), printed out your directions, and guests all gathered 'round, Peach Lemonade in hand, to watch the magic happen. It was fantastic. We've all agreed to do an "Adult's Pizza Party" when we retreat to Amelia Island over 4th of July. Thanks for the specific directions, they were most helpful.

Sounds like a wonderful idea. I look forward to discovering some new blogs through your site (which I love.) Hope you are feeling better.

Sounds fab to me (and I rarely pay attention to people's blog rolls anyway... :)

Monogram Momma said...

Broady: that sounds TOO good! I'm going to do the lemonade as an adult beverage this week when I have company in town. Great idea!

I'm glad the grilled pizza worked out so well for you guys! Try the Sam's Club dough if you can score some. Its really delicious!

I say "Yeah!" to Blog Spotlight, and MMMM to Peach Lemonade. I feel like such a bad, bad Southern Girl...I've let my Southern Living subscription run out. When I worked there, I got them for free, and it just didn't occur to me to start paying again. And now I'm out of the loop on the Peach Lemonade!!! I'll have to run out and buy one off the news-stand like the rest of the commoners. :)

I've been thinking of deleting mine, too. We really all do have the same one, and then I feel bad when someone adds me to theirs and I don't have them on mine. Now that my etiquette idol has done it (that would be you) I know it's ok!
